DIY FEST – MAY 5th, 6th AND 7th
Last year was an absolute blast! So lets do it again, right?
3 days of really good music & bands, radical politics, delicious food, great dancepartys and nice people to celebrate autonome spaces and DIY culture.
It will be 3 days and i will try to post as much info on the website.
Again this will be a collaboration with the infamous ABC fest that will take place in the EKH/Vienna…do it together!
Keep an eye on this event to see which bands will play and other interesting stuff that will take place.

Here’s some info on the place where the fest is gonna be..please read what we as a collective stated.
Its everyone’s responsibility to make our places and this festival a comfortable and safe place to be at.
De Onderbroek is a legalized squat that was squatted in ’84 and after a lot of hard work and effort was legalized in 2009.
We are a collectively organized space and have a steady group of people that takes care of the basic infrastructure through a meeting which is held twice a month. Everyone that is involved and doing work is doing so on a voluntary basis, please respect that and always feel welcome to get involved.
We do our best to create an atmosphere and space where people feel welcome and safe and can be whoever they want to be. We do not tolerate any form of oppression like racism, sexism, fascism, homophobia, genderphobia etc. If nevertheless you feel unsafe or see situations around you that make you feel uncomfortable/unsafe please let us know at the bar, door or let people know that are connected to De Onderbroek.
De Onderbroek is a self supporting venue. We don’t get external money from the state.
Our prices are low and flexible so people with different financial situations and backgrounds can get in. Our target prices for a show is 5 euros which will cover the expenses for the band that is on tour, we do encourage people to pay our suggested 7 euro soli-price, this will keep the place running and will provide us at De Onderbroek some money for maintenance and to keep this awesome space going.
Obviously i only put some messages on the Facebook event and completely forgot about this beautiful website.
Doing shows for quite a while now and last weekend was probably one of the most inspiring and most beautiful things that ever took place in a basement. Thanks you to all the people that showed up, drove far, hitchhiked trough Europe to get to Nijmegen. All the people and friends that helped out with cleaning, cooking, doing shifts, djing, doing ABC and Book stands, giving workshops, baking cakes, setting up, doing sound, making breakfast! Thanks to all 15 bands for making amazing music and being great people..
Thanks to my fellow friends in De onderbroek collective for making it a great weekend super excited to organize shows again and definitely doing a big DIY fest next year.
Suggestions, questions, ideas for next year please send an email firstname.lastname@example.org
Also one of the people that spend the whole weekend in Nijmegen wrote a super nice report on the whole thing.
thanks for that!
Also im just finishing the line up for the next smaller DIY fest.
its gonna be on July 18th and it has kick ass bands.
also i noticed that people think that this was the first time im setting up the festival but its not..maybe it is in this bigger form but troughout the years im organizing smaller 1 day slightly bigger shows with good bands that all are in a way related to eachother and get the idea of DIY culture. # 9 is coming up!
I was at ABC fest last weekend, saw some of the bands that also will play Nijmegen..its gonna be great!
Thanks EKH & Andi!
heres a couple of things i would like to get out of my head and into the digital world.
-theres alot of bands and all the bands are really good, are nice folks and drove a shitton to play in Nijmegen..no one likes to play for an empty room..try being on time and also watch the first bands..
– i still dont have sleepingplaces for you all. really if i had the place i would let you all crash at my place but i havent and we dont have that place here in Nijmegen. the place is not huge and the building also functions as a place where collectives and groups work during the day.at the end of the night we cant have a place where all you 381 people sleep on the floor. its something im gonna look into for sure but for now…sorry.
-Distros and info stands…you are more than welcome!dont bring your entire record store we dont have space for that and the bands also have to sell some merch and theres a bunch of groups that would like to sell books and what not…anyways communication with eachother seems a good way to deal with this.
-Parking in Nijmegen is expensive..heres some addreses for free parking.
KONINGINNELAAN…whole street is free…15 min. walking.
the streets has enough space for all your cars!
